About
On December 14, 2012, Jeremy Richman’s daughter, Avielle, a student at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, was murdered alongside 19 classmates and six adult staff members.
In the aftermath of Avielle’s tragic death, Jeremy and his wife, both scientists, started THE AVIELLE FOUNDATION, an organization created to study the neurological issues that lead to violence and encourage people to act compassionately.
In May of 2014, Jeremy’s friends encouraged him to run Tough Mudder New England to raise funds and awareness for the Avielle Foundation. Jeremy did just that, and Team Mud for Brains doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
